Citizen science
Citizen science
Provided by Zooniverse
If you're connected to the internet, you can help scientists in many different ways. Sort gorgeous images of galaxies from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope into their shapes to help research at Oxford University. It's a job that humans are much better at than computers and the oldest person doing it is 96! Or you might like to help transcribe old ships' logs to help scientists better understand the climate of the past. Another favourite is to identify animals caught on automatic cameras in Serengeti National Park in Africa. You don't need any experience to begin, just a sense of adventure!

Citizen science: Birdwatching
Citizen science: Birdwatching
Provided by Birdlife Australia
Join our community of observers and bird data collectors. We have long relied on our community of dedicated volunteers to assist in monitoring and collecting data on Australia's birds. These days this valuable effort is called ‘Citizen Science’. We have two online portals that are the gateway to your important contribution as a citizen scientist. Birdata allows you to contribute to the Atlas of Australian Birds project. Not only is it a convenient, hassle-free way to submit data, but it allows your data to be made instantly available to our team of researchers. You also get access to bird lists and distribution maps. Our Citizen Science Portal, supported by the Atlas of Living Australia, is where you can contribute your observations of native birds to a number of our projects.

Companionship and activities
Companionship and activities
We are men with time on our hands who would like something meaningful to do. We might be restoring furniture, fixing bicycles for a local school, fixing lawn mowers or making a kids cubby house for Camp Quality to raffle. There might be a few young men working with the older men learning new skills and maybe also learning something about life. There are tea-bags, coffee cups and a comfortable area where men can sit and talk. We can also learn to cook and to how contact our families by computer.
